Welcome the sacred cult (hidden mysteries) of Demeter and Persephone, mother and daughter, maiden and crone, Priestess and Empress. Together they offer us the rites and rituals of death and rebirth — the spirit of wisdom and the knowledge of creation. They are the movement of spirit, the divine mother, a creative energy from above made manifest on Earth — The Holy Spirit or Divine Sophia.
You Must be Born Again? Say what?

3 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” 

What is the meaning to enter the womb again and be reborn? In Victoria Lepage's book, Mysteries of the Bridechamber: The Initiation of Jesus and the Temple of Solomon, evidence is put forward that Jesus was conducting sacred initiations akin to the Eleusinian Mysteries (the secret religious rites of ancient Greece). This involved the Baptism of water by the power of "Drawing Down the Moon" at night. And through this first initiation of three, the Divine Mother sets us on the path towards unification with the source of the ALL.

​In the Eleusinian Mysteries, during the festival of Demeter and Persephone, an initiate would sacrifice a suckling pig on the morning of the third day and ritually cleanse (baptize) themselves in the river. As horrendous as this would seem, there are hidden understandings to these rituals:​​
​
  1. The sacrifice depicted a very real severing of the lower or animal nature of the self, pointing towards the purpose and power the moon offers us in clearing our lower natures.
  2. It honoured the Path of the Moon (as the morning of the third day did not equate to three full days but was, in fact, two and a half days), for the moon travels through each 'zodiac' sign every two and a half days. And so the moon's power corresponded to Persephone's role as Psychopomp.
  3. Participating in these acts was a measurable commitment to become 'reborn,' represented by the river's cleansing 'baptismal' waters, a sign of washing away the past. And a commitment to continued renewal to give birth to life "Demeter"!

These rituals meant returning to the womb to be made anew through the moon. Persephone and Demeter's mythos were re-enacted at every festival and initiation; this was the introduction to awaken the initiate to the moon's powers (Persephone) and her creative forces with Mother Earth (Demeter) — to welcome them into the Eleusinian Mysteries. And through each re-enactment, another seed took root, revealing greater mysteries within ourselves, preparing the way to the Baptism of Fire (the second initiation) and eventual Bridal Chamber Mystery (the third initiation) of the sacred union or communion of the soul with the spirit of the ALL.
